How Donations Are Used
The Babiga Fund is non-profit organization staffed by volunteers only. All donations are applied directly to medications, laboratory tests, x-ray film and surgical supplies. The veterinary clinic providing these supplies is reimbursed at cost plus 5% to defray the clinic’s costs for ordering, stocking, and inventory of medical supplies.
No donations are spent on employees, advertising, or administration. Dr. Hiss personally covers any of these expenses.
A veterinarian reviews all requests for medical costs to determine if the expenses are reasonable, and then another individual, usually a wildlife rehabilitator, reviews the request for quality control.
The Fund will only reimburse at-cost amounts for medical supplies and laboratory services, and requires that any professional veterinary care be donated free of charge.
